So, how much money can you make self publishing a book? Let me get into a little story. I was at a cabin in Norway and we were walking on a hike for the day. Walking along the road, we weren't particularly looking for anything.
I'm always wishing to take pictures of some of the things that I see as I go. But the thing is that my eyes that particular day, I didn't really think I was going to see anything.
Because we were just on a road. We weren't on an actual hiking path that was off of a major road or a gravel road. As we're walking along, I see absolutely nothing.
I wasn't expecting to find anything and I wasn't looking either. Sometimes when we're not looking, some of the most amazing things can appear if we do start to look. But the thing is we just continued walking.
As I reached about an hour into the trip, suddenly I was looking to the side and I noticed something in the bushes of small blackberries. I thought well, the blueberries had already been gone for the season since it was no longer August, it was October.
Look For The Exact Key
But looking a little closer, I realized that what I was looking at were blackberries which are very rare. I've only seen them in other places in Norway. I was like, "wow!".
But it wasn't just a few, it was actually a lot. We started picking the berries and realized "wow! these are really amazing, fantastic". We happen to be right in the blackberry season.
We didn't even see these berries that were there that could have very easily had missed them. But the most surprising thing was that as I was walking back towards the cabin and I started noticing bush after bush of berries even near the cabin itself.
There were some very large piles of bushes filled with berries. I had passed by all of these areas without even realizing it. In other words, it was completely packed but I was getting absolutely nothing.
The thing was that they were all in plain sight. I just wasn't looking at the correct location to find the berries. They were there the entire time.
That was a bit of a learning experience for me. That sometimes, the best things can already be there. So, how much money can you make self publishing a book?
The average author earns a thousand dollars a year on average. And most sell nearly nothing at all for several reasons. The second thing is that most authors haven't considered whether they're even writing for a hungry market for their book in the first place.

This is a key one which is that we have to be looking in the right places. We just might be thinking we're just going to go for a random walk. We're not looking specifically for what exactly is the key to getting the win.
In the case of my berries, I was walking down that path and I was not looking in the right places. That's one reason why other people are finding people who have actually managed to sell more. They beat the average or way above beating the average.
They're going to tell you what you need to look for. Because the berries were camouflaged in the bushes. When you're optimizing your book to make sure it's going to sell as much as possible, you're going to be writing and putting it into the correct market.
You're going to be doing a whole series of other things to ensure that you maximize your sales even before we have even started writing the book. This is something that many authors have not considered.
Winners And Losers
Our third and secret answer of the day is that the marketing of your book will impact your sales more than the quality of the book. Now if the book is incredibly low quality, it will end up getting one-star reviews.
It will quit selling altogether, not completely but mostly will quit selling. But it will continue to make sales if the marketing is correct. However, if the marketing is correct and the book is even semi-okay, that is to say, you have value.
You're delivering to your readers and they're okay with the value that you've delivered. Not an outstanding book, just an okay mediocre book but the marketing is great. That is to say, you've optimized the book.
So we're looking for the right things which is the cover, the title, the description, and the market. We're going to run ads against this thing. Then you maybe even have an email list.
You're able to get your subscribers to write and help you with your reviews on your book. Then, what's going to happen over some time is that we're going to see the sales on that book go way above the average author.
In some cases, instead of making a thousand a year, you can reach a thousand a month, or up to $2000 or $3000 a month. I've seen people making close to $40,000 a month from their books if they're in the right market.

So, that's a key issue. But in terms of all of these methods and strategies, if you're not looking in the right places, you will walk right through these strategies. You will not pay any attention.
The result will be you'll make the average. Another little secret here is that the average author doesn't exist. What we really find are the winners who are making a lot more than that and the losers who are making nothing or losing money on their books.
And it averages together to give us a thousand. It's incorrect only to think that you even could find this average author. Because they don't exist. You have big winners and lots of really big winners.
And you also have lots and lots of losers in the market. So, how much money can you make self publishing a book? Tell me about what you have found?
