So let's get into it from my own story. I'm going to tell you something. When it comes to keywords this was completely shocking to me.

Because when I started my self-publishing journey just as many of you experiencing right now; you don't know what keywords are. What is a keyword? Why would it matter?

I mean you're just writing a book and people can buy it or they may not buy it. That was exactly where I was coming from. Maybe some of you have heard that keywords can be important.

But it isn't really clear why it is so important. The thing is I have published multiple books before learning about keywords and only when I took a course on amazon ads then I  begin to understand the importance of keywords.

And it made a little bit of sense. If we had the right keywords, we can drive traffic to our books through the ads. Then those people can click and buy the ads.

So I thought that makes a lot of sense for the books in terms of the ads that were running. And when I did start running the ads, my sales started going 3 to 5 times the number of sales as a result of those ads.

Now the ads cost some money but the money I make back was so much more. You know, a hundred and twenty million times my ads have been shown to people.

So with this experience, I'm able to better get a grasp of just how important these keywords are when it comes to ads. Some of the rules have changed on those ads over the years but are still very important.

Next thing is that another course I took. Later, I discovered that it's not just about the ads but also your book titles. That is to say, the title itself when people are searching on Amazon will come up.

In addition, those titles can come up in Google itself and other search alligators like Bing and Yahoo. When you're searching for something and up comes a title on your book on Amazon or another site.

Because your title is the value preposition especially the case when it comes to your non-fiction books. Even for your fiction books, you need to make sure that subtitles need to tell what exactly you're offering in your book.

What genre is this book? Who is this book for? There are so many questions that are left unanswered. By simply including a lot of these in the subtitles.

Now, we're not talking about keyword stuff in here but putting it in there. When people are doing searches anywhere on the internet, up comes your book. And how much you're paying for this?

The answer is you're not paying anything for this. That's where search engine optimization (SEO) comes in. When you're searching, your book titles can come up.

But also, there is other content you're producing on the net. So, do this now with your KDP keywords to ignite sales in 2021 - Self Publishing Secrets.

Get The Appropriate Tools

Here's what you need to do, first thing is you need to get the right tools. We do not want to waste time and money trying to figure out which keyword matches our thing.

We're going to use the best tools on the market which are also the most affordable tools. My top recommendation when it comes to the titles and exploration for your book is you're going to use KDSpy.

You can find my affiliate link in the description of all of my YouTube videos. I used it for 100% of all of my books. I even sometimes used it for viewers on YouTube.

Just do an exploration to see if the keywords that you're using are going to be good keywords or bad keywords. It's very easy, for my students as well, we always go through KDSpy.

For my coaching clients, we're always regulated using this as a centerpiece of our package. In terms of getting the books as high-quality as possible. If you've made a mistake before, you can change the titles of your books for your eBooks.

Not so much for the paperbacks or your hardback books. But for the eBooks because they don't have the same ISBN assignment. For eBooks, they will allow you to change your titles which is exactly what I did.

I have a little bit of a mismatch on some of my books.

It's better to have a correct keyword for this to have a title that simply doesn't  have a value proposition as to what exactly we are offering for people. The  second thing in dealing with these title issues, getting your title correct.

We're looking at what your competitors are doing and that's where KDSpy comes in. We can type in authority exactly all of their books and see what's selling best, which keyword they're using. Obviously, we're going to use similar keywords.

Whatever they're doing seems to be working the exception of this is when we're getting into these keywords. If you're talking about a major author like JK Rowling or Stephen King, then we don't care what they're doing. Because they're going to sell books regardless of which rules they're breaking.

We're just going to lay them to the side and focus completely on getting our keywords. Based upon people we haven't heard about who are the best sellers. It seems like a really strange concept but you have to think it through just a little bit.

There's some logic involved here, and it's not these best sellers they have a huge  following who doesn't care about their covers or terrible. Their keywords are  terrible, their titles are terrible, they're switching genres.

Because they just love these authors and will buy everything they produced. I'm in this category for some authors myself, so I understand the mindset. That means that some of their non-optimized books will sell anyways. It can give you some missed information we do not look at those.

We also don't look at books that are on sale for free. This set the price to zero or not, including those either when we're using KDSpy. We will just ignore those completely, the next tip, number two, it's got the right tool for your ads.

As I've mentioned, when I started running ads I started seeing sales jump 3-5 times when I had before that. That was actually would take off my business, I was ready to quit at one point. Then running ads against existing books with poor keywords.

I started seeing the sales coming in immediately, like a faucet you just turn it on and the sales start flying through with those ads. The tool for getting the correct keywords for your ads is going to be Publisher Rocket.

You can find my affiliate link in the description of all of my YouTube videos. This is the number one tool I use and my employees are using as well in regards to  finding the right keyword for your book regardless of which type of book.

Start Building Organic Traffic

Some of the keywords will be like your competitor authors. So that when their pages come up, you've got a science fiction book, and as some make researchers for them up comes your ad because you're also writing deep science fiction.

Publisher Rocket will give you that, you might be wondering why can't you use the same tool for both. They work for different things but Publisher Rocket helps you figure out which of these Amazon ads when you're going to be running them what you should be using.

The third and secret tip of the day is to start a blog right away. You might be wondering, what is this have to do with KDP Publishing? The answer is, we want to start building some organic traffic that's coming through to us in our brand.

The types of books that we're doing so we had a web page that we own and then people can come to that page and then we'll give away free small samples. This will both get on an email list and also we're going to use it.

Just in terms of generating traffic from the search engines as we're running SEO. For this, we're going to find the keywords under Google Ads Manager. As you run ads on Google, you're able to get those keywords and access to the ads manager.

So that you're able to make sure you're using keywords that match your audience. Whether you're doing a romance novel or science fiction or puppy training as I always like to focus on. Any of these types of books.

You're just simply going to put out fragmented things it's where you break it apart. And like toothpicks where you're splintering, that's the concept, Splintering. We're taking a book that you have to break apart. We're taking some short stories and sticking them out.

There may be part 1, part 2, and part 3. As we're working on a 3-5 years range, we're simply putting out content after content. We're putting more books on the market, we're building up an email list, and we're building a following.

The thing with the Content Marketing Course strategy, you can find the link on the description of all of my YouTube videos on how to supercharge your content marketing. You can be guaranteed, it's going to work for you.

As you move through that process, you're able then to better get the feel for how can this Content Marketing help drive traffic to your books. I have seen other people who've commented did not work for them. But in reality, we're talking a long game.

It's not just about getting some basic traffic and then you're done. It's about people seeing this over and over and it's being intrinsically linked to the specific content that we're producing. I just explain to you three different ways there.

You see whether you're dealing with the titles of your book and subtitles don't forget that. You're dealing with the ads that you're running against it. And you're dealing with Content Marketing with regards to blogs, YouTube videos, podcasts, and other forms of media.

That you're putting out there to make sure that your target audience can not throw a stone without hitting something you'd produce. They search for example for me would be self-publishing is my passion. It's the thing I'm most enthusiastic about.

So, search self-publishing and upcomes my name, why is that happen? Well, because I'm using SEO, I'm doing the same thing. In other words, I'm taking my own medicine when it comes to Content Marketing. I'm using the same strategies with my books and my ads.

This is just a very powerful combo that many self-publish authors simply aren't taking the time to figure out. My question for you today is, have you focused on keywords for your book?

If you have, write "Yes" below in the comments, and write "No", if you've never focused on it. Check out my other articles and videos for more answers to your self-publishing questions.
