I Started Reading Kindle Books
Today's topic has three points and you're going to want to stick around. Because the third point is a secret as to the absolute most important thing you need to be doing when you're getting started with KDP self-publishing.
So the topic we're discussing today is amazon KDP in 2021 what it is plus how beginners can start. By the end of this article, you're going to know exactly what KDP is and the necessary steps to publish your book.
You're going to have the key issues that you're going to need to pay attention to. To make this project a successful one and get your book onto the market. And you're going to feel great knowing that you had what is necessary for you to get your book self-publish.
So let's get into it. Grab a copy of my absolutely free Self-Publishing Checklist to make sure that you are not skipping any of the steps necessary to both get your book published and the secrets to increasing sales on your books on amazon. So go ahead and check that free thing right now.
So from my own story when I first got started with self-publishing I had no idea where, to begin with. It started back in 2015 and I had a friend from high school and one of my siblings would put some books onto Amazon.
I thought that was absolutely amazing but did I know what to do and how to go about doing it? Well not really. So what happened was it all started when I begin reading Kindle books on my iPhone. I realize that I have the books already.
I can just download them right on my phone and I could read them. In addition before that, it was audiobooks that I'd listen to right of YouTube. Where there are already books there all the time and just by listening to them it got me to reading.
In a way that I never manage to happen prior to that point. But then when I saw that I have my book with me all the time just on my phone it became a no-brainer. That this was something that not only could I see being done but perhaps I could also do the same thing myself.
So I found a topic that I was interested in. In this case, it was goal achievement that was my very first book. I thought "well that would be useful to pass on other people" and that would be a key one.
I'm still doing the very same steps here and trying to show you how to achieve your goal of self-publishing so I wrote my very first book. I played around with the covers and went through all of the wrong steps the thing was is I made hundreds of mistakes.

I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on the very first books that I was putting onto the market. But then I began to learn the patterns of what is necessary just how to get the manuscript from the first place. How to do the editing, how to get the cover, how to get the formatting in place.
How to run ads against it, how to put it into your Kindle eBook format and how to deal with the paperback and hardback and the audiobook versions of your books. So that people can enjoy and get a lot of value out of the books that you're putting onto the market.
But I made so many mistakes when it came to these things but after a while, something suddenly click. The pattern is repetitive there's a pattern on getting your book onto the market. And that's a little bit of what I'm trying to explain in this channel.
It is that you're able to see that there's a simple pattern that flows out for what it is to get a book onto the market and get that bookselling. And since that point, I've put over 200 books onto amazon and I've learned an awful lot about self- publishing.
And that is something I'm still very excited about and that's what I share with you on this very channel. So let's get into the main topic answers amazon KDP in 2021 what it is plus how beginners can start. So the first thing I want you to know is you need to pick the right niche from the start.
And the reason I say this is because if you choose the wrong niche or genre if you want or microgenre there's a lot of ways we're referring to this. You're going to pay in the long run. What we want is it's a combination of three things.
Find An Interesting Topic
We need a market where we can see books are already selling on Amazon. For this exact market, we need a market that doesn't have that many books. So there are a few books but they are selling a lot of copies.
The third thing is we need something in which you're interested. Unless you're going to go to go-striking-route which I recommend as a completely acceptable great option as well. Assuming we're writing the book ourselves.
Then you're definitely going to want to make sure that these three things are in check. If you're not interested in the topic you're never going to be able to write multiple follow-up books that help build your brand around you.
Now on the other hand you're writing a book where there are no other books in that niche or sub-niche. Then you're going to find maybe there's a market maybe there isn't a market. And what are you going to do? you're going to create an entire market.
I don't know if you have any idea how painful that is but that is a huge deal. Now if you're like a starving artist you don't mind if I set you a copy of your books. And this could be a good one a very very slowly building up, over 10 to 20 years you might be dead.
And then your book is going to sell like crazy I would not recommend that. The final one is we want a market where there are not that many books on the subject. So you could put your book and then you can out mark the other people with your book and this is the skills and tricks I teach.
All of my secrets, we're teaching you how to out skill on marketing your competitors. The thing is, is that as we put our books onto the market with doing a good market we can out-compete. Even if there is a flooded market but a flooded market means we're splitting out the sales and so many books.
This is going to be difficult for us to compete with these books. So I'm telling you this is also not something you're going to want to do. You need to make sure that we're not targeting a flooded market so the markets are lots of people are buying books.
We've got very few books on that topic and it's something we're interested in. So we're going to be able to put out book after book in that same area. And I've told multiple coaching clients and I told even some of you on YouTube that this is the most important thing.
But before we even move beyond this choosing worth a little bit of time now maybe not using a year but maybe a couple of weeks. This is not something you want to take lightly. Now we could make a mistake on this I made a mistake on this first choice.

But nobody told me but I'm telling you, you've been fairly warned that this is something you want to get under control to make sure those things. I used the tool KDSpy you can find my affiliate link below in the description of all of my YouTube videos. It helps me to find these powerful genres.
I will also help you below in the comments if you would like for me to take a look at this tool for your books. I can do that or like so many of my coaching clients we do under your sessions as well. So you can click on the Coaching sessions below and we can book a session.
So that we can take a look at your situation. And I will you do the deep analysis that many of the fake gurus out there will not ever tell you how exactly to go about doing that. Number 2 you need to set a time every day to write 500-1000 words.
In my first books, I did a thousand words a day. Now I know we have this discussion, you need to make sure that the qualities of that book will get you between 3 and 5 stars when it goes organically on Amazon. But beyond that point, it's an okay book so we're going to run ads on these books with rounds of editing.
We can increase the quality and with feedback from actual readers, we're getting on our email list and such. We're going to be able to figure out what we needed to do for our next book to change it. Make it something more appealing to our ideal customers and those ideal readers were so excited.
That's our goal, our goal is to get people excited about the next book that we're putting on the market and this is exactly how we do it. Now you need to decide how many words. You could say you're going to write 30 minutes a day.
Just In Time Learning Concept
I like the word count because it just keeps the gasp on you're writing process. So we've already chosen our topic, we've written a thousand words a day until we had our manuscript. And you can decide how long this book could be, it's nonfiction it could be as little as 10,000 words.
And if it's fiction it could be anything. I mean even with the nonfiction I would just say it should be at least 3000 words. We want to make sure it gets to the 24 pages necessary to make a paperback and we can also turn it into an audiobook that's going to sell.
It will be about 20 minutes at least so you have a hundred and 55 words a minute so that sort of a little bit of an idea. So you have an idea the link we should be showing is nothing that is less than 3000 words. But from 3000 you can go to a hundred thousand for like a fiction novel you're writing.
It depends but don't feel the link has to be so painful or it has to be pressure on you to get the link exactly right. Just start writing, you can outline the story first and use a little bit of time on that, and then start writing your story and put these things together.
You're going to improve each book you come out with and your audience will also give you the feedback you need. Now let's get to the secret answer of the day that is, don't try to master everything at once, just focus on the next step in the process to win the long game when it comes to self-publishing.
I had a former student asking "why wouldn't I do marketing?", "I want to do this, I want to do that". And they haven't even created their book yet and it hadn't even got under the market. They want it onto the social media where they spend so many hours talking with these people.
But I'm telling you, get your first book onto the market and then let's focus on how we can improve and then do the marketing on it. So there are so many aspects here that you can jump ahead and find yourself all caught and bag down into certain steps of finding out.
I've mentioned before in one of my videos there's a concept called Just In Time Learning and that's what we want. We want to learn at a point, at the edge where we are ready to implement what we learn. So if we're going to learn about ads we want to make sure that we're getting ready to implement the one we learned into the ads.

If we're learning about formatting your book well then you will take my Formatting Course below in the description of all of my YouTube videos. And as you're working through those steps I do not jump ahead. We go step by step, you follow me click per click.
I hold your hand one on one to make sure you're going to succeed at getting your book formatted correctly. We don't care about the cover at that point we just want to get the book format. We care for the cover as well but generally those repair-like activities.
But no talking about the ads and social media marketing even content marketing. All of these things are going to wait until later. We're not even talking about how to post a book on Amazon or Ingram spark or all of the other sources out there.
Or audible getting an audiobook version of your book going. We're just focusing on only one thing and that is that we're going to be taking your book and we're going to be getting the thing formatted, do you see how this goes?
As a new beginner, I discuss a lot of the steps necessary to win the self- publishing game. But we're going to go slowly one by one through the steps. Dedicate about 30minutes to an hour a day, if you can't do it in more, then at least 30 minutes is okay.
Or else I can tell you you're not going to succeed without 30minutes a day. If you're really willing to invest 30 minutes a day well it's probably a little bit of a fail project from the start. And it's basically 30 minutes a day minimum.
And when you're in the writing phase see if you can do 500 to a thousand words and you will thank me later for these tips. These are the tips that will work for you in 2021 when it comes to amazon KDP. My question for you is, are you trying to publish your first book?
